Planets Moving

 

The purpose is to create the sun, the earth rotating itself and around the sun, the moon rotating around the earth; the whole ornamented with asteroids and a comet crossing space.
This example quite complex enhances composition of effects (Sprite) as well as Snake, Explode et Blur.
The different stages gonna be described now.

Creating asteroids

1 - Set up width, height, and a black background color for the movie. Click button Insert Text. Enter 10 dots, select font, its size and a white color. Keep them in the middle of the scene. Reduce width W and height H.

2 - We create 4 other texts by copy and paste. The previous text being focused, hit CTRL C then CTRL V 4 times.

3 - Now, you 'll select every pasted text and change every tab 'Transform' (right zone), so that the positions 'll be different.
For instance (X=300 Y=220) (X=310 Y=230) (X=330 Y=250) (X=340 Y=260). The initial text was in the middle of the scene (X=320 Y=240).

4 - In 'Timeline', select a row for a given text, click Frame 0, then 'AddEffect', 'Explode'.
Duration : 120 Frames. Do the same for the other rows of text. The purpose is to set up different parameters for every effect.
We only focus on tab 'Explode'. To get a variation of effects, we 'll change the Strength setting a number between 0 and 20. (5-10 seems to be a pretty good value)
Ramdom allows different positions.
The center of the burst (X ,Y) is defined in relation to the center of the object and thus allows to get projections upwards or downwards, positive or negative values for Y being given.
Gravity concerns the attractive strength of the fragments.

Explode

As a sample, here are the settings for this animation :

Creation of the sun

Click button Ellipse. Draw a circle with the diameter mentioned below.

Name it 'Soleil'. Set up a radial gradient of color mixing red and yellow.

Creating the other planets

First download a picture of Earth terre.zip

1 - We first begin with Earth. Click button Ellipse. Draw a circle with the diameter mentioned below.

In Menu Insert, click Image. In 'Shape', select Clipped Image. Click the image underneath. A dialog box 'd open. Get earth.jpg from the right directory.

2 - Copy and paste the image : CTRL C, then CTRL V. Put the new image right after the previous one, without any space but at the same Y.

3 - SHIFT maintained in a down state, select the 2 images in 'Outline'. Then menu Modify / Grouping / Group or CTRL G. Name that group '2images'.

4 - Now we gonna set a rotation effect, first rotating the image then moving it.
a - To rotate, click icon rotate. Make the image rotated in the position mentioned below.

b - SHIFT being in a down state, select 'Terre' and '2images' in 'Outline', then Menu Modify / Grouping / Group as Sprite. You 'd get the followin in 'Outline' :

Warning :
In tab 'Sprite', in the right zone, Loop and masked must be toggled.
The object 'Terre' being the mask, must be at the bottom of the tree in the Sprite.

c - In 'Timeline', select Frame 0 in row '2images', then 'AddEffect', Move. Enter the data mentioned :

It 's quite fundamental that this group of 2 images move so that the circle of Earth is always overlapped. Adjust the values if necessary, then test.
This allowed to simulate the rotation of Earth.

5 - Right now let's create the moon.
Click button Ellipse. Draw a circle as mentioned underneath.

Name it 'Lune'. Set up a radial gradient of color mixing blue and yellow.

In 'Timeline', click Frame 0 in row 'Lune', then 'Add Effect' and 'Snake'.
Duration : 60 Frames. Change data in tabs as mentioned :

Composition of movements

1 - In 'Outline', maintaining SHIFT in a down state, select Lune et Sprite. Menu 'Modify' , select 'Grouping', then 'Group as Sprite'. Then Menu 'Modify' , select 'Grouping', then 'Group'.

Outline

'Group as Sprite' allows to get inherent effects for Lune and Sprite.
'Group' allows the previous group to having an effect in the whole animation.
You 'd notice we got a sprite of sprite!

2 - In 'Timeline', click Frame 0 in row 'Group', then 'Add Effect' and 'Snake'.
Duration : 120 Frames. Change the data in tabs as mentioned :

Creating a Comet

1 - In 'Outline', select 'Soleil', then CTRL C and CTRL V. Name the new object 'Comete'. Set up position and dimensions as shown hereafter :

2 - Click Rectangle. Draw a rectangle right after the circle. ( I suggest to zoom prior to) Set up a linear gradient of color ( Keep the red and the yellow ones )

3 - Click Reshape. Move some handles of the rectangle

4 - In 'Timeline', click Frame 0 in row 'Rectangle', then 'Add Effect' and 'Blur'.
Duration : 40 Frames. Enter the data mentioned in the following tabs :

5 - In 'Outline', maintaining SHIFT in a down state, select 'Rectangle' and 'Comete'. Menu 'Modify' , select 'Grouping', then 'Group as Sprite'. Then Menu 'Modify' , select 'Grouping', then 'Group'. Name it 'Group1'.

Outline

'Group as Sprite' allows to get inherent effect for the tail of the comet (Rectangle).
'Group' allows the previous group to get an effect in the whole animation.

6 - In 'Timeline', click Frame 0 in row 'Group1', then 'Add Effect' and 'Snake'.
Duration : 40 Frames. Set up the data mentioned in the following tabs :
